CBI Arrested YSR Congress president Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy in the disproportionate assets case on Sunday night after police tightly enforced prohibitory orders all over Andhra Pradesh.
Fearing a backlash from YSR Congress workers, near curfew like conditions were clamped by police in all major towns and cities. Security personnel staged flag marches in several towns and, in places like Kadapa, forced shopkeepers to pull down shutters besides asking the A. P. State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) to drastically curtail bus services.
Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy’s arrest was communicated by the CBI to YSR Congress leaders at around 7.20 pm. The leaders, B. Goverdhan, spokesperson, and Jupudi Prabhakar Rao, MLC, told reporters that their party president was “unjustly” arrested by the CBI at Dilkusha Guest House on Sunday though he had called for questioning.
