Actress Rekha oath as a Rajya Sabha MP on May 15, 2012 Pratibha Patil had approved her name and that of cricketer Sachin Tendulkar for the Upper House

Bollywood actress Rekha took oath as a Rajya Sabha MP on May 15, 2012. Rekha was one of the most popular Bollywood actresses in 1980s. Known for her flashy jewellery and heavy sarees, Rekha chose to be different for Rajya Sabha.

President Pratibha Patil had approved her name and that of cricketer Sachin Tendulkar for the Upper House. Sachin Tendulkar is expected to take oath on May 16, 2012. Rekha met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh before taking oath.
