Its initial name was Federal Public Service Commission. As per new constitution of India on 26th January 1950, its name was changed as Union Public Service Commission.

Now, it has announced that it is about to recruit fifty Public prosecutor, One hundred thirty Air worthiness officer and two hundred fifty three Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner in Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Employees Provident Fund Organization, etc in pay scale of Rs. 15600 – 39100 with Rs. 5400/- Grade pay.
